Description
Like many athletes I’m notoriously superstitious.
I have a pregame ritual I follow to the letter.
But mine isn’t the typical, don’t wash your socks.
It’s…unconventional.
And embarrassing.
And when the teammate who idolized me as a kid stumbles on it, I’m mortified.
I’m also desperate enough to accept his help so my career doesn’t end before I want it to.
Now, I’m playing the best hockey of my life.
So is Justus.
But we’re technically violating team policy and risking our careers in the process.
Mine is nearing its end.
His isn’t.
No one can find out about what we’re doing.
If only it was still about hockey.
Justus was supposed to be a means to an end, and he was.
Just not in the way either of us were expecting.
